Under 15 Minutes Away: Ronceverte, Fairlea, & White Sulphur Springs, WV.

20 to 30-Minute Drive: Union, Caldwell, & Alderson, WV.

30 to 35-Minute Drive: Rainelle, Rupert, Meadow Bridge, Sandstone, & Green Sulphur Springs, WV.

35 to 45-Minute Drive: Covington & Clifton Forge, VA, as well as Shady Spring & Beaver, WV (Eastern Beckley outskirts).

WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY DO (FRONT & CENTER)

Program Planning & Coordination: Develop, organize, and implement engaging daily, monthly and seasonal recreation programming. This includes community outings, special events, and weekend activities that provide a perfect balance of physical activity, life skills, community engagement and resident interests.

Safety & Supervision: Ensure the safety, supervision and appropriate behavior of residents during all recreation activities. You will lead off-campus trips, aquatic activities, and community events while strictly following all agency safety procedures.

Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate recreation programming seamlessly with residential, education, nursing, transportation and other departments while maintaining timely communication, documentation and activity schedules.

Manage the Goods: Keep our sports facilities, inventory, and gear clean, safe and ready for action

Own the Budget: Plan annual expenses and buy the coolest recreation therapy gear and supplies.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

The Brains: A Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of related experience (or an equivalent mix of education and experience).

Lifeguard Certification: Ability to successfully complete and maintain CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard certifications. Don’t have it yet? No worries—training is fully provided and required by Davis Stuart!

The Brawn: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, and up to 100+ lbs. occasionally during heavy activities.

The Basics: A valid driver’s license and basic math, computer and writing skills.

The Vibe: Integrity, emotional control and deep sensitivity to the cultural and socio-economic characteristics of our residents and staff.

The Background: Ability to pass fingerprinting and clearance through WV CARES and APS/CPS. Davis Stuart is a licensed residential facility. All employment offers are strictly contingent upon a clear fingerprint-based background check and registry search through the West Virginia Clearance for Access: Registry and Employment Screening (WV CARES) program. Applicants with disqualifying offenses under W. Va. Code R. § 71-11-2 cannot be hired. However, candidates with minor, non-violent historic offenses who are eligible to pursue a WV CARES Variance Request are welcome to apply.

Screening: Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
